Windows Install

1: Download D20Pro.
2: Then, open d20ProInstaller (Full or Update). If A Security Warning Appears, Simply Press The "Run" Button To Continue.
3: Follow The Prompts For The Installation Wizard.
4: Read The End User License Agreement Then Select "I Agree."
5: Choose A Custom Destination Folder (Or Use The Default Destination Folder).
6: Install The Built In 3.5 OGL Campaign Files (Recommended For New Installs).
7: Select Advanced Memory Congifuration (Or Use The Defaults).
8: Then Press "Install".

Warning.png Any program inside the "Program Files" directory is subject to UAC in Windows Vista/7/8/10. A lot of users find it is less hassle and just easier to deal with installing D20PRO just off the root like C:\d20pro ...


Advanced Memory Configuration

On the bottom of the launcher is a button for Upper Memory Limit, which shows the current allotment. It is suggested to use 1/2 your total RAM or less. 1g should suit most common users.

Run Program as Administrator

It can be helpful to run the D20PRO application as Administrator, especially if your installation is inside the /Program Files/ sub folder on a Windows system where UAC is an issue.

To do this;

  • Navigate to where you installed D20PRO.
  • Locate the D20PRO.exe, right click on it and select Properties.
  • Click the Compatibility tab.
  • Check the box that says 'Run this program as administrator'.
  • Click the Apply button.
  • Click the 'OK' button.

  • NOTE FOR MAC USERS: If the file does not auto-launch on a double-click, right-click and select “Open” to activate the launcher.

Warning.png Occasionally Mac users will receive an error that the file is “damaged and can’t be opened.” This is Mac OS’s Gatekeeper feature that defaults to only allowing App Store Downloaded programs to open. To bypass this, go through the following steps: Goto System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General Tab > Allow applications downloaded from Anywhere > Click the “Allow From Anywhere” button > launch D20PRO.


Mac Install 3.x.x or earlier

  • If upgrading from D20PRO version 3.3.X or Before:
  • Because these versions of D20PRO do NOT include JAVA we will need the full install (not the updater).
  • Also these installs have a single application install (more about this later).
  • Before upgrading please make sure in your current D20PRO that you close and save any open maps.
  • After downloading the most recent version of D20PRO-Mac-[version number].ZIP it should automatically unzip and have a D20PRO folder in your downloads folder.
  • Now move the new D20PRO folder into your Applications (or wherever you want D20PRO to be located).
  • Find your older d20Pro install location (this is a single application), then Control + Click (or Right Click, or on track pad: index finger down, pointer finger click) to pull up a * context menu, then select "Show Package Contents."
  • Now expand Contents > Resources > Java > judge >
  • Find "campaigns" (This folder contains all your campaign files).
  • Copy the "campaigns" folder.
  • Now navigate back to your Applications folder (or wherever you placed the new install of D20PRO)
  • Now expand data > judge >
  • This is where the new "judge" folder is located. Now simply "paste item" then select "Replace"

Mac Install 3.4.x - 3.5.x

  • These versions of D20PRO include an older version of JAVA and will require us to have the full install (not the updater).
  • These versions include outside folders of campaign files.
  • Before upgrading please make sure in your current D20PRO that you close and save any open maps.
  • After downloading the most recent version of D20PRO-Mac-[version number].zip it should automatically unzip and have a D20PRO folder in your downloads folder.
  • Now move the new D20PRO folder into your Applications (or wherever you want D20PRO to be located).
  • Find your older d20Pro install location.
  • Expand data > judge >
  • Copy the "campaigns" folder.
  • Now navigate back to your Applications folder (or wherever you placed the new install of D20PRO)
  • Now expand data > judge >
  • This is where the new "judge" folder is located. Now simply "paste item" then select "Replace"

Mac Install 3.6.X or later

Mac Updater Jar
  • These versions can be upgraded using the D20PRO-Upgrader.JAR
  • Before upgrading please make sure in your current D20PRO that you close and save any open maps.
  • Please click the "Locate D20PRO Installation..." button, find your current D20PRO installation then press the "Update button" (to whatever the newest version is button).

Sierra

  • Make sure System Preferences is closed/quit.
  • Open the Terminal app from the /Applications/Utilities/ folder then enter the following command: sudo spctl --master-disable
  • Press Return, then authenticate with your admin password.
  • Relaunch System Preferences and goto Security & Privacy > General Tab
  • You will now see the "Allow apps downloaded from" section, pick "Anywhere".
